Why use ZK ?

Thread Started on 2009-06-25 18:20:52.0

Hi,

Ours is a small company and the development team has 4 members. I am one of them.
We already have an existing desktop based product which we are trying to convert to web-based. We started developing a prototype and I used ZK to develop the pages. The backend was plain java objects. The prototype is complete and everyone liked the initial release.

Now we want to proceed with the real product development. For the backend it was decided that we use struts2 framework and the boss is very particular about using the struts validators. This leaves us with using ZK just for the look and feel.

I was reading the article about integrating ZK with Struts framework in ZK How-tos and at the end, it had an example about improving the performance by doing everything in ZK instead of the Action class. If this is case, I do not prefer adding additional overhead to the system by using ZK. At this point I am not sure if we should we even consider using ZK.

Please advise what would you do in this scenario (bearing in mind that we have a very short deadline and limited resources) ?

Thanks
Vineetrika
