ZK filter not compatable with jstl

I've done some more testing, and it seems to me that any use of the zkfilter on a jsp page that uses jstl (c:) causes this error.

I have to modify existing JSPs that use struts to use ZK. The only workaround I can find it to replace the HTML widget (text block,etc.) with an include statement to a .ZUL page, and have that page contain just the widget I want to use.

This approach has too many drawbacks to really use; I need to put the zk widget right onto the jsp. Has anyone been able to get this configuration working?
